Purchasing Procedures
Once you have selected your property you will require the services of a local lawyer. Your lawyer will carry out all the relevant searches and conveyance procedure to ensure the property is transferred safely into your ownership. Typically, your lawyer will be provided with a Power of Attorney, this document allows your lawyer to represent you and act on your behalf with all matters pertaining to the property saving unnecessary trips to Greece. To sign the Power of Attorney, your lawyer will accompany you to a Public Notary (a government appointed body) where you will pay approximately €60 for the Notary to witness and record that a Power of Attorney has been provided. If buying off plan, the payment will typically be split into stages and will be released by your lawyer as the build progresses.

There is only one deed in Greece, the deed for the land, so once the land is transferred into your name, whatever is built on the plot is therefore yours.
